About the Author

J. R. Arranguez Jr. is a Filipino writer and media professional whose work bridges journalism’s eye for detail with the intimacy of lived memory. Born and educated in the Philippines, he earned his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of the Visayas in Cebu, then served as a media production specialist for the Department of Agriculture–Central Visayas, where he also worked as chief editor for in-house publications, wrote scripts, and produced documentary films. His bylines span features, fiction, and poetry in English, Tagalog, and his native Cebuano, experience he later carried with him to the United States. He is the author of the historical/multicultural novel Reminiscence: Memories Are Beyond Forgetting No Matter How Bitter They Are—inspired by true events surrounding a Filipina nurse and the Vietnam War—as well as the children’s book The Boy Who Hated Numbers. Across genres, Arranguez’s storytelling reflects a deep interest in family histories, migration, and the resilience of ordinary people.
